Top 20 Travel Destinations: Bali, Indonesia My husband and I along with our two children finally made it to Bali for a vacation. I imagined an exotic world filled with tropical forests, blue waters along white beaches, and chances for adventure and relaxation.

We were not disappointed at all! There is just something about the small island that makes it so unique and stunning. This is a place where you can really forget all about work and home and just enjoy the place for what it is.

Bali is also the most tourist-friendly island in Indonesia so you will find it easy to enjoy all the various attractions. The beaches of Bali have great diving spots and some of them offer water sports such as jet skiing.

Depending on where you go, you can be in (almost) complete solitude or enjoy a cocktail at a trendy beach-front café with locals and other tourists.

The beaches also have the biggest resorts and countless spa facilities. I personally enjoyed the jungles best. We visited several stone temples that were well off the beaten track.

Just watch out for the monkeys! As cute and fun as they are, monkeys are likely to do something like steal your food, jewelry or even glasses.

There are a lot of traditional villages where you can relax and get a feel for the local culture of Bali, which seems unchanged even after all these years of tourism and globalization.

There are several flight carriers which go to Bali’s main airport. We got a good deal flying Qantas from Melbourne. As far as getting around Bali, don’t bother with the public transportation unless you are the rugged backpacker type.

These buses and trams are really crowded and confusing. It may be worth it to rent a car so you can get to all the various places of interest in Bali.

However, there are lots of tourist buses which you can take.
