Big Banana - Coffs Harbour

One of the things Coffs Harbour is most known for is the Big Banana. The theme park used to be just a small banana stall back in 1964.

The owner wanted to make something that would get people to stop and buy his bananas so he, along with an engineer, began to construct a giant banana sculpture. The site of the banana stall kept growing until there was a shop and café. After several different partnerships and owner changes, it finally became the Big Banana theme park.

There is a water park, a toboggan ride, ice rink, candy factory, multimedia theatre, amongst other attractions.

This is really just the thing that Coffs Harbour needed to put it on the map. Not only is Big Banana something really unique, but it is something that families with small (or big) kids can do while on vacation. The toboggan ride really is the best. I just recommend you make sure that there isn’t a slow-moving child in front of you before you descend!

Even though the park seems to really be pushing their theatre, that was the least interesting part of the park. The tour only lasts a few minutes. The inflatable water slide is the largest in the world and fabulous whether you’re an adult or child. Make sure you don’t miss the candy party where they make it right in front of you and let you eat it afterwards.
