Gantheaume Point - Cable Beach - Western Australia

Gantheaume Point is found to the south of Cable Beach. When you journey here, you will be struck with the huge difference between the sandy beaches and this rugged landscape.

Gantheaume Point has dark red layers of rock which overlook the ocean.

The vibrant color contrast is amazing. At Gantheaume Point, you can find real dinosaur footprints from 120 million years ago which are now embedded in rock. You can only see them when the tide is low but there is a plaster cast at the top of the hill for visitors. It is important to remember that the reef at Gantheaume Point is very fragile so you should stay on the boardwalk. Just a short walk down from Gantheaume Point is Anastasia’s Pool. This is a small pool that was carved into the rock by a former lighthouse keeper for his wife who was arrhythmic.

Around Gantheaume Point is Minyirr Park. There are several hiking trails you can follow through the area. Some of these lead you down to the beautiful Riddell Beach. You can’t swim here but the colors are striking. Plus, you will probably find the beach completely secluded and peaceful. Make sure to bring hiking shoes and lots of sunscreen for this day trip!
