The Melbourne Zoo offers a fantastic experience in wildlife with over three hundred species of animal available around the park. One of the highlights of the Melbourne Zoo is the Butterfly House, an enclosed space you can enter, to view butterflies in their thousands. There is a chance you’ll have a very close and personal encounter with a butterfly while in this exhibit and it’s a stunning way to see the grace with which these animals go about their day. Add to this the world of bugs, the gorilla rainforest and late in 2009 a marine precinct and you will find the Melbourne Zoo experience to be a fantastic way to spend your day – no matter what your age. Opening Hours: from 9am every day of the year. Closing time is 5pm, but on selected evenings during summer the Zoo stays open until 9:30pm for the Zoo Twilights concert series. Phone: 03 9285 9300
