Phuket, Thailand Our Jungle House: Accommodation in Khao Sok National Park One of the most amazing experiences my family has ever had was visiting Khao Sok National Park.

This lush place is the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world. There are amazing limestone mountains that jut right into the heavens, vast lakes, caves, and lots of activities. One of the most popular reasons for visiting Khao Sok is elephant trekking through the jungle.

You can also take canoe tours or night safaris. The entrance to the camp has a small village which has restaurants and a few bars. It was really surprising how many options there are for accommodation. Over the internet, I saw everything from luxury camping (at the price of luxury hotels!) to dingy shacks passing as hotels. After a lot of research, we booked “Our Jungle House” and couldn’t believe how fantastic it was! We stayed in the “Thai House,” which was a two-story tree house. This dwelling was literally up in the tree tops.

Even though it looked just like a tree house, we were amazed at how nice it was inside. There were two single beds and one double. Each had a clean and intact mosquito net. The bedding was really fresh and the beds fairly comfortable. The entire tree house was made with exquisite dark wood. We really felt like we were in our own private oasis. For those of you afraid of heights, there are also dwellings located on the ground! The best part had to be waking up to monkeys crawling around outside.

One even got up on our terrace. My kids loved it! The river was just a few meters from our tree house and the kids also enjoyed playing in the water. I’ve got to say, this is one of the most exciting places I have ever been. The staff at Our Jungle House organized tours for us. The location is a bit far from the main park entrance, where all the bars and restaurants are. It is only a 10 minute walk but you’ll want to have a flashlight at night! You can always sit and eat or drink in the small restaurant located at Our Jungle House.

The food is great and always really fresh. Our dwelling only cost 1200 baht and all the tours were offered at a competitive price. If you want to really get out and away, this is a vacation that you’ll never forget!
