You are better off hiring a local to give you a detailed tour by long boat. You can get to the islands by taking the ferry. From Phuket, the crossing takes about 2 hours or 90 minutes from Krabi. If you don’t mind spending a bit extra money, the fastest way to get across is by private speed boat. They come in various sizes, holding from 2-20 guests and luggage. If you are traveling with a large group, the price is good because you pay by ride, not person. The ride takes about 45 minutes and speed boats leave at 7 am and 4:30 pm.
