Whitehaven Beach Whitehaven Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. The beach is seven kilometers of white silica sand.

There are the most amazing color effects in the places where the sand meets the ocean water and makes swirls of different colors. What adds to the beauty of Whitehaven Beach is that it is uninhabited, like many of the Whitsundays.

You can’t spend the night at the beach but you can have an amazing day trip. My husband and I took a romantic helicopter tour. You get to see the view of those swirling colors and blistering white sands from above.

Then, you get taken down onto the island and enjoy a bottle of champagne. When we went, we were very lucky and had a spot of the beach all to ourselves.

Right as we took off, a group of tourists showed up. There are many ferries and luxury cruise ships which will take you to Whitehaven from Airlie beach or from Hamilton Island.
